Gimhae City to Expand "1,000-Won Breakfast" to Inje University This Year
Support Expanded Following Gimhae University
Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province will expand the "1,000-Won Breakfast" support program to Inje University starting from the 2026 academic year, following its implementation at Gimhae University.
On March 3, the city announced that it would expand the 1,000-Won Breakfast support program for university students, which is being promoted in partnership with local universities to improve students' health and to encourage rice consumption amid high inflation, starting this year.
This program is a youth-focused policy that provides high-quality breakfast meals made with domestic rice for 1,000 won per meal to university students at campus cafeterias during the semester.
This year, a total of 240 million won will be allocated for the project, including 120 million won from the national government, 60 million won from the provincial government, and 60 million won from the city government. Meals valued at approximately 5,000 won per serving will be provided to each student.
Students pay 1,000 won, and the remaining cost is jointly subsidized by the government and local authorities.
Gimhae University has been participating in the program since 2024 and is operating it stably. Starting this year, Inje University will also join the project, continuing its implementation with thorough hygiene management and balanced meal options.
