Yeonsu District in Incheon Uses AI to Respond to Sinkholes...Establishes Ground Management System
Yeonsu District in Incheon announced on the 24th that it will establish a smart ground management system using artificial intelligence (AI) to respond to the recent frequent occurrence of ground subsidence (sinkhole) accidents.
The project aims to build a smart ground management system that combines AI and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology, and to carry out exploration work with the district’s own capabilities instead of relying on external organizations.
The core of this project is to shift from a traditional "post-incident response" approach focused on restoration, to a "proactive prevention" system that uses advanced smart technologies to detect and predict risk factors in advance and prevent accidents.
To this end, the district will be responsible for operating GPR equipment and analyzing the data, and will recruit data analysis specialists in charge of inspecting and managing ground conditions until the 27th. In addition, in April, it will also promote a "special ground survey service" to conduct a detailed investigation of areas with a high likelihood of ground subsidence in order to prevent accidents.
Furthermore, the district plans to actively seek selection for the "Incheon Smart Village Public Contest Project," which aims to establish a system that enables constant inspections and rapid responses by introducing advanced technologies that combine AI and GPR.
