Cheongyang County Named Excellent in Local Government Innovation Assessment for Second Consecutive Year
61 Selected Out of 243 by the Interior Ministry... "Excellent" in Six Areas Including Leadership and Digital Administration
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province has been selected as an excellent institution in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's "2025 Local Government Innovation Assessment." This is the second consecutive year following last year.
According to Cheongyang County on the 24th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluated 243 local governments nationwide in 10 areas, including the head of the institution's innovation leadership, improvement of organizational culture, and utilization of digital technology, and announced 61 excellent institutions on the 23rd.
Among them, the county received an "excellent" rating in six categories, including the head of the institution's innovation leadership, promotion of public-private cooperation, and AI- and digital-based services.
The county received high scores for establishing an institutional foundation and improving its organizational culture. It institutionalized its innovation vision by enacting, for the first time in the country, the "Ordinance on Innovation of Organizational Culture for Public Officials of Cheongyang County," and abolished the practice of "Day to Serve Senior Officials" through the "Administration PRO Campaign."
In addition, it eased the vertical organizational culture through initiatives such as the "PRO Innovation Promotion Group," in which both junior and senior public officials participate together, and the operation of the "Cheongbasi (Cheongyang Time for Change)" bulletin board.
The county's rural-type innovation model was also included in the evaluation. Measures to address labor shortages in rural areas included expanding sales channels through the launch of the Cheongyang Nonghyup Agricultural Products Corporation, establishing a system for the direct recruitment of overseas workers from Laos, and providing a settlement support package that includes dormitories, medical care, and education.
Everyday life-focused digital administration was also presented as an achievement. Representative examples include AI-IoT-based health management services for seniors, AI smart care, and a convenient bulky waste disposal service using the "Bbaegi" app. Earlier, the county also won an excellence award at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Organizational Culture Improvement Contest.
This year, the county plans to promote the "Administration PRO+ Campaign" to further advance its existing achievements, while continuously improving the supplementary tasks pointed out in the assessment.
