"Bang" Truck Plows Through Yeongam Intersection...Two Dead Including Man in His 30s
Ran Red Light, Crashed Into Side of Passenger Car
At an intersection in Yeongam-gun, South Jeolla Province, a 21-ton truck ran a red light and crashed into a passenger car, killing two people including the driver in his 30s.
According to the Yeongam Police Station and Yeongam Fire Station on the 23rd, at around 9:29 p.m. the previous day, a 21-ton truck driven by Mr. B collided with the side of a passenger car driven by Mr. A, who is in his 30s, at the intersection in front of Sanho Village in Samho-eup, Yeongam-gun.
In the accident, Mr. A, the driver of the passenger car, and a passenger in the front seat suffered severe injuries. Mr. A was transported to a hospital by 119 paramedics in a state of cardiac arrest, but he and the passenger ultimately died.
The truck driver, Mr. B, also sustained minor injuries and reportedly received treatment at a hospital.
Police investigations found that Mr. B ran a red light while passing through the intersection and crashed hard into the side of the passenger car, which had been traveling normally.
