Dong-A University Holds Graduation Send-off Ceremony for 120 International Students
Over 200 Participants at Kyungdong Hall on the Bumin Campus, Introduction of a Multilingual Interpretation and Translation System
Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on February 20 that it held the “Graduation Send-off Ceremony for International Students for the First Semester of the 2025 Academic Year” at Kyungdong Hall on the Bumin Campus.
The event, which was held on February 11 to build a network of international alumni and to promote exchanges between current students and graduates, was attended by about 200 people, including Yeom Jeongguk, Dean of the Office of International Affairs at Dong-A University, staff members of the International Exchange Division, graduating and current international students, and the families of graduates.
This semester, a total of 120 international students are graduating from Dong-A University, including 51 from undergraduate programs, 57 from the general graduate school, and 12 from the Graduate School of International Studies.
This graduation send-off ceremony was organized to celebrate the graduation of international students and to share their efforts and achievements. In particular, a multilingual interpretation and translation system was introduced to help participants from various language backgrounds understand the proceedings without language barriers.
On this day, graduating students Truong Ngoc Bao Han (Department of Tourism Management), Atamukhamedov Sanjar (Department of Convergence Management), Tran Thi Mire (Master’s program in the Department of Education at the general graduate school), and Zhang Fan (Doctoral program in the Department of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture at the general graduate school) received academic excellence awards.
Yeom Jeongguk, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, encouraged the students by saying, “The courage you showed in taking on the challenge of a new country at a young age, the time and effort you devoted to overcoming language and cultural barriers, and the experience of understanding and connecting two different cultures will become the greatest assets in your lives,” adding, “I hope that the value of jeong, the uniquely Korean sense of warm affection that you have learned and taken to heart here, and the power of empathy and consideration will become great assets to you wherever you go.”
Graduate Nyan Win Htut (Myanmar, Department of Tourism Management) said, “Now we begin another journey. Our nationalities may be different, but at this very moment we are all standing on the same starting line,” and added, “I hope each of us will shine in our own place and become people who connect the world.”
Master’s graduate Tran Thi Mire (Vietnam, Department of Education, Graduate School) said, “Thanks to the thoughtful support of the university, including the International Exchange Division, I was able to continue my studies with peace of mind even in a foreign country,” and added, “Through my studies and various exchange activities, I had precious opportunities to experience and understand each other’s cultures.”

Speaking on behalf of the current students, fourth-year student Batbayar Gunjidmaa (Mongolia, Department of Political Science and International Relations) said, “I sincerely congratulate the graduating seniors who have done their best in their studies and various activities to stand here today,” and added, “I wish you success and happiness in every step of the path ahead.”
