Kang Giyun Steps Down as President of Korea South-East Power ... "Will Support and Back Its Growth"
Kang Giyun, the 9th president of Korea South-East Power, stepped down on the 19th in a retirement ceremony held at the main auditorium of the company’s Jinju headquarters in Gyeongnam, attended by executives and employees.
Korea South-East Power explained that since President Kang took office in November 2024, he has resolved major pending issues such as permitting for the Haenam Solar Power project, permits for the Bundang Modernization Project and the Goseong Combined-Cycle LNG pipeline construction, and improvements to the REC weighting for wood pellets.
In particular, the company assessed that under his leadership it firmly established itself as a leading public corporation in Korea, achieving an A grade in the 2024 public institution management evaluation, the top grade (Grade 1) in the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s comprehensive integrity assessment, and the highest level in the safety management rating system.

President Kang’s term was originally set to run until November next year, but he resigned early before completing his full three-year tenure.
He is reportedly planning to run for mayor of Changwon in the nationwide local elections to be held on June 3.
