Dong-A University Earns 4th-Cycle IEQAS Certification...Passes Both Degree and Language Training Programs
Continuous Certification from the 2nd and 3rd Cycles... Valid for Four Years from March 2026
Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on February 19 that it has obtained a new certification in the "4th Cycle of the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS)" administered by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Dong-A University has received certification consecutively from the 2nd and 3rd cycles through to this 4th cycle, and has passed both the "degree programs" and the "language training programs".
The International Education Quality Assurance System is a scheme operated to expand the recruitment of outstanding international students and to enhance universities' internationalization capabilities. The Ministry of Education certifies universities that meet a certain level of capacity based on basic indicators including the "illegal stay rate", as well as performance in three areas: internationalization strategy and student selection, support for international students, and management and outcomes for international students.
From the 3rd cycle onward, degree programs and language training programs have been evaluated separately, and the overall capacity for recruiting and managing international students is reviewed in a comprehensive manner according to the characteristics of each program.
Certified universities benefit from simplified visa issuance procedures for international students and may select language trainees up to 100% of the annual quota for new admissions. They may also be designated as host universities for Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) students, receive preferential treatment when participating in overseas Study in Korea fairs, and be introduced on official Ministry of Education websites such as the Study in Korea portal.
The validity period of the 4th-cycle certification is four years, from March 2026 to February 2030. However, even during the certification period, certified institutions must undergo annual monitoring reviews to determine whether they maintain their certification status.
