View original imageGokseong County in South Jeolla Province has joined hands with related institutions to strengthen local students' self-directed learning capabilities.
The county announced on the 11th that on the 10th it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Gokseong Office of Education and Gokseong High School to establish and operate a Self-Directed Learning Center.
The Self-Directed Learning Center is a public contest project run by the Ministry of Education that aims to reduce dependence on private education for middle and high school students and provide an environment and various educational programs that enable them to study on their own.
Under this agreement, the three institutions decided to work together to create a space where students can study in a stable environment and to close educational gaps through individualized, customized learning support.
The center, which is scheduled to open in April, will be created by remodeling the reading room at Gokseong High School. It will be equipped with an online lecture room and a self-study space, and a dedicated learning coordinator will be stationed there to systematically manage students' learning.
In particular, the plan is to improve students' academic achievement by supporting customized learning design using the EBS learning diagnosis system, as well as one-on-one counseling on careers and college admissions.

An official from the county said, "We hope that through this agreement, the Self-Directed Learning Center will take root successfully in the community," adding, "We will continue to discover educational support policies that students and parents can truly feel, and thereby further enhance the competitiveness of education in Gokseong."
