Naval Logistics Command Maintenance Depot Brings the Gift of Warm Light to Underprivileged Residents in Jinhae
Residential Environment Improvements and Electrical Safety Inspections Conducted
The Naval Logistics Command (hereinafter referred to as the “Naval Logistics Command”) Maintenance Depot added warmth to the local community ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday by gifting nearby neighbors the professional skills it has honed through warship maintenance.
On February 11, maintenance personnel from the Propulsion Systems Plant at the Naval Logistics Command Maintenance Depot visited elderly people living alone, single-parent families, and grandparent-grandchild households in the Chungmu-dong area of Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City, and carried out volunteer work to improve their residential environments.
This volunteer activity was organized to prevent electrical fires that can occur in aging houses during the Lunar New Year holiday period and to provide practical help so that local residents can spend the holiday safely.
The maintenance personnel who took part in the volunteer work that day used their warship maintenance know-how not only to replace old house lighting with LED fixtures, but also to thoroughly inspect for electrical leakage and check wiring conditions with specialized equipment, proactively eliminating potential risk factors.
In particular, the 20 items used for the volunteer work, including LED lighting fixture sets, were purchased with donations voluntarily collected by the maintenance personnel, adding further meaning to the act of sharing.
