On February 4, the Goyang Cultural Foundation in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Lee Donghwan, CEO Nam Hyun) announced that, building on the operational achievements of the Eoulrim Cinema at the Goyang Media Center, which was completely revamped last year and received positive feedback from citizens, it will continue its curated screening program in the first half of 2026.

View original imageEoulrim Cinema, a public movie theater with 74 seats, has, since last year, featured themes of historical significance in film that are curated around familiar keywords such as actors and directors.
In addition, by organizing its programs around weekday-specific themes that combine artistry and popularity, the cinema has improved viewing convenience for audiences. Through scheduling with annual continuity, it has also created a structure in which audiences can choose films by genre and era.
Through this approach, Eoulrim Cinema has established itself over the past year as a space where local citizens can enjoy culture in their daily lives. In particular, during the summer of 2025, many screenings sold out day after day, confirming the high level of interest in public movie theaters in the region.
Masterpieces curated around actors
In 2026, the foundation will continue its "Great Films" series based on audience response. "Great Films - Actor Edition (Tuesdays at 2 p.m.)" is a program that focuses each month on iconic actors of their time and highlights their representative works.
The main actors featured in the first half of the year are Meg Ryan, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, and Cate Blanchett.
The program will screen films that represent these actors' filmographies, including "You've Got Mail," "Chinatown," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," "Doubt," "The Post," "Donnie Brasco," and "Blue Jasmine."
Saturday special screenings: Exploring the world of film through directors
From April to June, on the third Saturday of each month, the "Great Films - Director Edition" will be held. In the first half of the year, representative works by directors Tim Burton, Ken Loach, and David Fincher will be screened in a three-film marathon format in a single day.
The lineup includes "Edward Scissorhands," "The Wind That Shakes the Barley," "I, Daniel Blake," "Seven," "Fight Club," and "The Social Network."
March revival program
The most notable feature of the first-half 2026 program is the March revival lineup.
In consideration of audiences who were unable to attend last summer's screenings at Eoulrim Cinema due to consecutive sellouts, the March program focuses on titles that drew particularly strong reactions at that time.
The films to be screened include "Plein Soleil," "Some Like It Hot," and "Out of Africa." In addition, some of the March selections reflect audience requests, and the foundation plans to continue expanding audience-centered curation in the future.
Then and Now: Revisiting box-office hits... Rediscovering popular classics that defined an era
"Then and Now: Revisiting Box-Office Hits (Thursdays at 2 p.m.)" is a program that brings back to the big screen box-office successes that have been loved across generations.
The lineup features films that combine popularity and artistic merit, such as "L.A. Confidential," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and "Notting Hill."
