View original imageAt the meeting, a total of eight agenda items were discussed, including: △adoption of a joint resolution urging the passage of the 3rd amendment to the Gangwon Special Act (Cheorwon County) △a proposal to prepare measures to prevent the flooding of the Jangseong Mine (Taebaek City) △a proposal to pave village access roads within national forests managed by the Korea Forest Service (Hongcheon County) △a proposal to add the names of tongs and ris in parentheses at the end of road-name addresses (Hoengseong County). The approved agenda items will be submitted as proposals to the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the central government ministries.
In particular, through the joint resolution, the Association strongly urged the National Assembly to swiftly pass the "3rd amendment to the Gangwon Special Act," which includes the practical transfer of authority to the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and regulatory special cases, and pledged that all 18 cities and counties would unite with one heart to leap forward as a global future-industry city-region.
In addition, they joined forces to resolve regulations faced by each city and county, such as the proposal to pave village access roads within national forests managed by the Korea Forest Service, and finally agreed to call for the government to prepare practical countermeasures at the national level to prevent the flooding of the Jangseong Mine, which was urgently proposed by Taebaek Mayor Lee Sangho.

Lee Hyeonjong, Chair of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Mayors and County Governors Association (Cheorwon County Governor), said, "It was a very meaningful time to share opinions and build consensus on various pending issues faced by each city and county, including the 3rd amendment to the Gangwon Special Act," adding, "Going forward, all cities and counties will join forces and cooperate with one another for the development of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and I will do my utmost to ensure that the Association fulfills its greater responsibilities and role at the center of these efforts."
