Sec Wins Additional Order from Micron for HBM X-ray Inspection Equipment
Sec, a specialized electronic-beam-based materials and components company, announced on the 4th that it has received an additional order from global semiconductor company Micron for X-ray inspection equipment for HBM (High Bandwidth Memory).
According to the company, Sec signed a supply contract on the 3rd for HBM X-ray inspection equipment worth approximately 1.8 billion won, and the equipment is scheduled to be delivered by July this year to Micron's HBM production line in Taiwan.
The newly ordered equipment is Sec's HBM X-ray inspection system, the "NF120 series," which has been steadily sold for about 14 years since its launch in 2012, from the first-generation 4-layer stacked HBM model to the current generation. Despite being a manual system, it has been deployed to Micron's mass-production line since 2023 and is being used for HBM process inspection.
A Sec official said, "With the growth of the HBM market, demand for X-ray-based mass-production inspection in the advanced packaging field is also increasing rapidly," adding, "In response, we plan to begin full-scale promotion from next month of the 'Semi-Scan series,' which can inspect HBM and WLP (Wafer Level Packaging) processes in-line."
