A victim who was robbed of cash and other belongings by an armed assailant on the street was later found to be a courier involved in a voice phishing scheme and was apprehended by the police.

View original imageThe Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced on January 29 that two men in their 30s had been arrested and referred to the prosecution on charges of special robbery on January 9.
According to the police, the suspects are accused of threatening victim A with a weapon and stealing cash and other items on a residential street in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on December 29 of last year.
Through an investigation using CCTV footage and other methods, the police discovered evidence that victim A was involved in a voice phishing operation and confirmed that there were accomplices, including A.
On January 22, the police arrested both A and two accomplices. The robbery suspects were all apprehended two days after the incident, on December 31 of last year.
