In addition, the decline in approval was further pressured by heightened security risks, such as the controversy over Minister of Unification Jeong Dong-young's remarks regarding 'core nuclear facilities.'"
By region, Gwangju and Honam recorded an approval rating of 82.9%, while TK also showed 50.4%.
In the party approval ratings survey (conducted at the request of Energy Economy Newspaper, using an automated response system based on wireless telephone RDD, targeting 1,006 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide from April 23 to 24; margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, response rate 4.3%), the Democratic Party of Korea's approval rating rose by 0.8 percentage points to 51.3%. The People Power Party fell by 0.7 percentage points to 30.7%. The Reform New Party recorded 3.6%, and the Cho Kuk Innovation Party recorded 2.5%.
