Why Did S-OIL Employees Collect Salary Change Under 10,000 Won?
34 Low-Income Patients Receive 99 Million Won in Medical Support
Up to 5 Million Won Per Person... Ongoing Since 2008
S-OIL (CEO Anwar Al Hejazi) employees have collected the remaining change from their salaries and generously donated it to cover medical expenses for low-income individuals.
On January 29, S-OIL announced that it held a ceremony at its Seoul headquarters to deliver the Salary Deduction Support Fund, donating 99 million won to the Community Chest of Korea.
This donation was made possible by S-OIL employees voluntarily pooling less than 10,000 won from their monthly salaries. It reflects the ongoing spirit of giving that the employees have maintained over time.
From 2008 to 2024, S-OIL has consistently supported children with biliary atresia, a rare disease, through the Salary Deduction Support Fund.
Starting this year, the company has expanded its support to low-income individuals who fall through the cracks of the welfare system. Through the Korean Association of Medical Social Workers, S-OIL selects patients from low-income families across the country and provides up to 5 million won in medical expenses to each selected patient.
Last year, a total of 34 patients received medical expense support through the Salary Deduction Support Fund. Each month, S-OIL employees personally visit hospitals to deliver the funds and convey their encouragement to patients and their families.
