Yeoncheon County Completes 2025 Important Records Digitization (DB Construction) Project
Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that it has completed the "2025 Important Records Digitization (Database Construction) Project." Through this project, 1,351 analog videotapes, which had become difficult to view due to media deterioration, have been reborn as digital records.

View original imageThe project targeted video records produced by Yeoncheon County from 1981 to 2013, including TV news footage related to the Hantan River resort in 1981, the Yeoncheon County Residents’ Day event in 1985, the county office building completion ceremony in 1989, vivid scenes from the 1996 flood, the 2003 Yeoncheon Jeongok-ri Paleolithic Festival, and Yeoncheon County government news, among others.
Additionally, the collection comprehensively includes videos of various events from the 1st to the 4th popularly elected administrations, as well as meeting footage from the 1st to the 6th Yeoncheon County Councils, providing a panoramic view of the development of local self-government administration in Yeoncheon. In particular, footage from the 1990s of "Ami-san Ureori," Yeoncheon’s proud folk game and Gyeonggi Province Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 10, is expected to serve as an important asset for re-highlighting the value of local cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.
Kwon Youngmin, Administrative Officer of Yeoncheon County, stated, "Through this digitization project, Yeoncheon County has established a foundation for the safe, systematic management and utilization of preserved audiovisual records," adding, "We plan to actively release these digital video records to Yeoncheon residents and provide practical record information services."
