Innovative Technology Demonstration Program
with Direct Citizen Participation
Runs Through January Next Year

In various locations throughout downtown Gwangju, citizens will have the opportunity to directly experience innovative technologies in artificial intelligence, transportation, and healthcare through a demonstration program.

According to Gwangju City on December 16, the "Citizen Participation Innovation Technology Demonstration Experience Program," which allows citizens to directly experience the technologies and products of local start-ups, will be held from December 17 to January 11. This participatory event invites citizens to visit demonstration sites, use the technologies, and observe how they work.

At the Bitgoeul Senior Health Town, a demonstration of a "barrier-free unmanned information kiosk" will take place, allowing users to analyze biometric data such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and stress index simply by sitting in a chair, without attaching electrodes. At Sangmu Station on Gwangju Metro Line 1, a real-time train arrival information system has been installed so that citizens can verify the accuracy and convenience of the information during their commute.

Eight local start-ups are participating in this program: Autowells, HelpTeacher, Replus, SpaceAI, LalaLabs, SoulSoft, SUICT, and Delper. These companies are applying technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) consultations, virtual fitting kiosks, digital healthcare services, and real-time traffic information systems to everyday spaces, enabling citizens to experience and evaluate their usability and convenience.

Gwangju City aims to verify the performance and reliability of these technologies through the demonstrations and to accumulate achievements for future commercialization. Alongside the experience program, a stamp tour and a generative artificial intelligence (AI) image creation event will also be held.

The stamp tour allows participants to visit demonstration sites such as Bitgoeul Senior Health Town, Gwangju National Science Museum, the National Asia Culture Center, U-Square, and subway stations. After their experience, participants can scan a QR code to join the tour, and prizes will be awarded by lottery based on the number of visits. The generative AI event uses platforms such as Gemini and GPT to create images that represent the demonstrated technologies.

Joo Jaehui, Director of Economic and Start-up Affairs at Gwangju City, stated, "This program enables citizens to take the lead in demonstrations and directly experience innovative technologies. It will help promote start-up technologies and strengthen Gwangju's image as a demonstration city."

Currently, Gwangju City is supporting demonstration projects for 51 selected companies.
