Since its launch in 2011, it has become a leading welfare support program that has been consistently implemented nationwide.
This year's recipient was selected by Army Headquarters following a recommendation from the 50th Infantry Division. With support from the Korea Housing Welfare Cooperative and the Korea Veterans Welfare and Healthcare Corporation, a house built in 1991 was fully renovated. In addition, the General Paik Sunyup Memorial Foundation provided essential home appliances such as a refrigerator and a television, further improving the living conditions of the veteran.
Mr. Ryu, a 78-year-old Vietnam War veteran residing in Seongju County, North Gyeongsang Province, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Due to my age and health issues, daily life has not been easy, but thanks to the renovation of my old house, I will be able to spend this winter warmly."
