Market Cap of Gwangju and Jeonnam Listed Firms Rises Over 10% on Korea Electric Power and Kumho Tire Stock Gains

View original imageDriven by the stock price increases of Korea Electric Power Corporation and Kumho Tire, the market capitalization of listed companies in Gwangju and Jeonnam rose by more than 10% for the second consecutive month.
According to the Gwangju Innovation Growth Center of the Korea Exchange on December 9, the combined market capitalization of 38 listed companies (16 on the KOSPI and 22 on the KOSDAQ) in Gwangju and Jeonnam stood at 43.5947 trillion won as of the end of last month, up 17.8% (6.5889 trillion won) from the previous month.
Following a 12.5% (4.1031 trillion won) increase in market capitalization at the end of October compared to the previous month, the region recorded another double-digit growth rate in November.
This is attributed to the stock price of Korea Electric Power Corporation rising by 18% in October and a further 23.4% in November, which led to an increase of 6.3875 trillion won in its market capitalization last month. As of the end of November, Korea Electric Power Corporation's market capitalization was tallied at 33.7031 trillion won.
Among the 16 KOSPI-listed companies, Kumho Tire recorded the second largest increase in market capitalization after Korea Electric Power Corporation, rising by 327.5 billion won to reach 1.6833 trillion won.
Among the 22 KOSDAQ-listed companies, Vaxcell Bio saw the largest increase, with its market capitalization rising by 25.8 billion won over the month to reach 241.9 billion won.
Green Life Science increased by 10.2 billion won to 71.9 billion won, and AgentAI rose by 9.6 billion won to 51.5 billion won, respectively.
However, eight KOSPI-listed companies, including Daehan Shipbuilding, Daeyu A-Tech, and Chosun Refractories, as well as 15 KOSDAQ-listed companies, saw their market capitalizations decline compared to the previous month. Investor trading volume in November reached 5.2291 trillion won, up 7.5% (366.5 billion won) from the previous month.

By market, trading volume in the KOSPI market increased by 5.9% to 3.5925 trillion won, while the KOSDAQ market rose by 11.3% to 1.6365 trillion won.
