Seo-gu, Gwangju Holds 'Volunteer Conference' to Promote the Value of Volunteering
Commemorating International Volunteer Day
Over 400 Participants Attend the Event
The Seo-gu Volunteer Center in Gwangju Metropolitan City held the '2025 Seo-gu Volunteer Conference' at the Work-Family Balance Support Center on December 8 to commemorate International Volunteer Day (December 5).

View original imageAccording to the center on the 8th, this conference was organized to express gratitude for the dedication of volunteers who practiced sharing throughout the community over the past year, to enhance their sense of pride, and to promote the value of volunteering.
Under the slogan "Seo-gu, Where Sharing and Happiness Become Everyday Life," the Seo-gu Volunteer Center, together with approximately 100,000 volunteers, has contributed to revitalizing volunteerism through various initiatives, including warmth-sharing activities and problem-solving programs for local issues.
In particular, through the 'Volunteer Water Connection' project, the center has operated programs such as the Volunteer Growth School, Seo-gu Volunteer University, and Seo-gu Volunteer Road, thereby strengthening the foundation for attracting new volunteers and facilitating generational transition.
Additionally, by utilizing online platforms and various campaigns, the center has created an environment where all local residents can easily participate, working towards building a sustainable volunteer ecosystem.
At the conference, more than 400 people attended, including Seo-gu District Mayor Kim Ikang and outstanding local volunteers. The event featured activity sharing through videos, the 'Shine Seo-gu' performance, and commendations for distinguished volunteers.
Notably, Moon Sunja, head of the Gwangcheon-dong Volunteer Camp, received a commendation from the Prime Minister, while Seo Gwangsun, an instructor at the Volunteer Growth School, received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety.
Chairman Kim Seunghwi stated, "All the volunteers who have cared for neighbors in need and worked to build a warm community over the past year are the true protagonists of today. We will continue to do our best so that volunteerism can become a driving force for a brighter future in Seo-gu."
