Wanju County Selected as Outstanding Institution in Atopy and Asthma Prevention and Management Project
Awarded the Director's Prize from the Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center
Wanju County in North Jeolla Province has been selected as an outstanding institution in the 2025 Atopy and Asthma Prevention and Management Project evaluation, conducted among the 14 cities and counties in North Jeolla Province. The county was awarded the Director's Award from the North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center.
According to the county on December 8, this recognition is the result of Wanju County's continued efforts to implement a systematic atopy and asthma prevention and management program tailored to each stage of life, from infants and young children to adults and the elderly.
In particular, the county received high marks for expanding the operation of Atopy and Asthma Safe Schools (18 locations), providing customized counseling and support for moisturizing and environmental management for patients, strengthening cooperation with local institutions (such as schools, kindergartens, and senior welfare centers), and enhancing online-based education and promotional activities.
The Wanju County Public Health Center has established an integrated management system that links education, counseling, promotion, and environmental improvement support, enabling the continuous identification and support of patients. As a result, the county has achieved tangible improvements in health indicators, such as increased participation of guardians in educational programs and improved implementation rates of moisturizing and environmental management practices.
Additionally, through collaboration with the North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center, local schools, and childcare facilities, the county has contributed to strengthening a child-centered prevention and management network. This year, particular efforts were also made to provide asthma management information to the elderly.
Yu Misuk, Director of the Public Health Center, stated, "This award is an achievement made possible by the joint efforts of residents and local institutions," adding, "We will continue to create an environment where patients and their families can live healthy lives and further expand scientific and systematic atopy and asthma prevention and management policies."
