Six teachers from Daejeon achieved outstanding results in the "7th School Media Education Excellence Contest" and the "Selection Review of Outstanding Teacher Research Groups in Digital Media Literacy Education," both organized by the Ministry of Education and hosted by the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education.
The contest period ran from September to November, with the award ceremony held on December 1 at Four Points by Sheraton in Seoul. This recognition once again highlighted the high level of expertise and passion for media literacy education among teachers in Daejeon.
The "School Media Education Excellence Contest" was designed to promote the dissemination of exemplary class models that applied digital media literacy lessons in actual school settings.

View original imageThe contest, which was open to teachers from elementary, middle, high, and special schools nationwide, selected a total of seven winners (individuals or teams) across the country. The "NEO CITIZEN Project," which won the Grand Prize (1st place), drew attention as a convergence education model that enabled students to explore language, technology, and ethics in an integrated manner and grow into reflective digital citizens through activities such as AI and news bias analysis and media reconstruction to correct bias.
In addition, the "Selection Review of Outstanding Teacher Research Groups in Digital Media Literacy Education" evaluated the research outcomes of 50 teacher research groups selected nationwide in May, with a total of six teams receiving national recognition.
The "Scene World Project" team (five members) led by Seo Seonghwan, a teacher at Daejeon Hagi Elementary School, received an Excellence Award for developing seven class materials that incorporated digital media literacy elements into the film production curriculum. The project was particularly recognized for its design, which allows students to learn easily, enjoyably, and conveniently, making it highly applicable and scalable in school settings.

Jo Jinhyung, Director of Secondary Education at the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "In a rapidly changing media environment, it is becoming increasingly important for students to correctly understand and utilize information," adding, "We will continue to provide support so that efforts to expand media literacy education in the field can continue."
