Delivering Warmth to Neighbors
with Heartfelt Kimchi Sharing
Guam 2-dong in Masan Wogu District, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held a Kimchi of Love sharing event at the outdoor parking lot of the Administrative Welfare Center to help neighbors in need.
The event, held on December 6, brought together over 100 participants, including members of the Saemaul Women’s Association, the Saemaul Council, and all autonomous organizations in Guam 2-dong. From early in the morning, they joined forces to prepare seasonings and pack kimchi boxes for the sharing event. A total of 320 heads of carefully prepared kimchi were delivered to 160 households, including seniors living alone and families receiving basic living support.
The Saemaul Women’s Association and Saemaul Council of Guam 2-dong have continued this kimchi sharing activity every year, and it has become a representative winter welfare project in the region. This year’s event was especially meaningful as it was supported by local businesses such as HiteJinro Masan Plant, Korea Electric Power Corporation Masan Branch, and Pyeonhanmom Clinic.
Lee Gwanghae, President of the Saemaul Women’s Association, said, “I hope the kimchi we have prepared with care will help our neighbors in need have a warm winter. We will continue to carry out sharing activities for the community.”
