"Learning Continues in Old Age"... Leisure Program Performance Sharing Session Held
Operated at 183 Senior Centers and Welfare Facilities
The Korea Leisure Culture Education Association announced on December 5 that it recently held the '4th Wando-gun Senior Center Leisure Program Performance Sharing Session' at the Wando Life Culture Center.
This event was attended by around 400 seniors aged between 75 and 90 from 12 towns and townships in Wando-gun. Some participants even took the first ferry at dawn to reach the venue, demonstrating active involvement.
The association, together with 19 professional instructors, operates leisure programs at 183 senior centers and welfare facilities in the island and islet regions of Wando-gun, with approximately 2,000 seniors participating annually.
Since 2022, Wando-gun has entrusted this project to the association in order to improve the quality of life for the elderly.
The programs are designed around practical daily life, including drawing, Korean language classes, physical activities, music therapy, and dementia prevention education. They are evaluated as providing opportunities for learning, communication, and emotional stability to seniors in island regions with limited access to cultural and leisure activities.

The association stated, "The steady participation of seniors is leading to changes in the local community, such as increased involvement in village events and talent donations. We will continue to work with the county to enhance the quality of our programs and strengthen community connections."
