Proposing a Corpus-Based Morphological Analyzer Model
for Middle and High School Grammar Education
Praised for Enhanced Practicality
Juhyun Noh and Eunseo Joo, both seniors in the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Dong-Eui University, Sia Yoo, a sophomore in the same department, and Sunyoung Gong, a senior in the Department of Computer Engineering (with Professor Joongho Choi as their thesis advisor), received the Grand Prize at the Busan Hangeul Society University Student Academic Paper Competition, held as part of the society's 60th anniversary academic event at Hanbit Hall, Pusan National University, on November 27.
Their presentation, titled "A Corpus-Based Morphological Analyzer Model for Middle and High School Korean Grammar Education," explored the development of a new corpus-based learning tool to address the limitations of generative AI, which is not suitable for educational purposes. In particular, the team proposed the "Saegim" model, a morphological analyzer designed specifically for middle and high school Korean grammar education, emphasizing accessibility and practicality, which was highly praised by the panel of judges.
Team leader Juhyun Noh said, "I am grateful to my teammates, with whom I spent six months thinking and researching together. I was able to achieve a lot thanks to working with such great people, and I am deeply thankful to Professor Joongho Choi for his warm and dedicated guidance."
