Donghae City to Hold Completion Ceremony for 'Disaster Relief Sharing Center' on the 3rd
Donghae City in Gangwon Province announced on December 2 that it will hold a completion ceremony for the newly constructed 'Disaster Relief Sharing Center' on December 3. The center was established to ensure the prompt delivery of relief supplies and a secure storage system in the event of a disaster.
The newly completed Disaster Relief Sharing Center is located in Cheongok-dong and consists of a single-story building with a total floor area of 392.61 square meters. Inside, an environment has been created to systematically store various types of relief supplies, such as emergency relief kits, cooking kits, and temporary relief kits.
The project began with the design phase in November 2024, followed by groundbreaking in March 2025, and was completed at the end of November of the same year. The total project cost was 1.156 billion won, with 500 million won from special grants, 302.08 million won from provincial funds, and 302.08 million won from city funds.
This new facility addresses issues previously identified with the existing warehouse, such as inadequate air conditioning systems and difficulties with loading and unloading supplies due to a narrow access road. As a result, the dispatch of supplies during disasters will be faster, logistics flow has been improved, and a safer storage environment for relief items has been secured. Based on this, Donghae City expects to be able to supply relief materials stably even in large-scale disaster situations, thereby significantly strengthening the region's disaster response capabilities.
