Gwangyang City Selected as Outstanding Institution in Local Tax Carryover Delinquency Reduction Assessment
Awarded as Outstanding Institution for Three Consecutive Years
Securing Fiscal Incentives
Gwangyang City announced that it has been selected as an outstanding institution in the "2025 Local Tax Carryover Delinquency Reduction Assessment" conducted by Jeollanam-do Province, securing general subsidies as a fiscal incentive.
Every year, Jeollanam-do comprehensively evaluates 22 cities and counties based on five indicators, including the collection rate of carryover delinquent taxes, total amount collected, and public auction disposition rate, to select outstanding institutions.
The city has implemented strong measures such as public disclosure of delinquent taxpayers, restrictions on licensed businesses, and seizure and public auction for those with large or habitual delinquencies, while providing customized welfare-linked support for livelihood-based delinquent taxpayers. Through these efforts, Gwangyang has worked to realize tax justice and establish a fair tax administration order.
As a result, the city collected 4.2 billion won in carryover delinquent taxes in 2025, achieved a perfect score in the public auction disposition rate category, and ranked first among all 22 cities and counties. In particular, the collection rate increased by 6.7% compared to the previous year, marking the highest increase among city-level governments.
This is a meaningful achievement accomplished despite challenging fiscal conditions, such as economic uncertainty, a decrease in local tax revenue, and an increase in delinquencies. With this selection, Gwangyang City has continued its record of being awarded as an outstanding institution for three consecutive years.
