Naver Pay Strengthens Foreign Tourist Payment Infrastructure with Korea Tourism Organization through 'Connect' Collaboration
Cooperation to Expand Npay Connect at Major Tourist Destinations Nationwide
Naver Map to Display Connect Store Information in English, Chinese, and Japanese in December
Naver Pay announced on December 1 that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization to enhance payment convenience for foreign tourists visiting Korea.
The two parties will cooperate to expand the deployment of Naver Pay's offline integrated terminal, 'Npay Connect,' to major tourist destinations across the country. They aim to establish a payment infrastructure that allows foreign tourists to travel without restrictions on payment methods.
In particular, they plan to provide integrated payment and tourism information services for foreign tourists. Within this month, both parties will update Naver Map to display information about stores equipped with Connect terminals. This will enable foreign tourists to check in advance whether they can use NFC-based payments, such as Apple Pay and contactless card payments, at each location before visiting.
Additionally, reviews left by domestic users through Connect will be translated into English, Chinese, and Japanese. This will allow foreign tourists to easily discover restaurants, cafes, and attractions based on trusted reviews.
Recently, during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit held in Gyeongju, the two parties collaborated to use Connect as a payment support terminal for foreign tourists at select stores on Hwangridan-gil, a major tourist attraction.
Going forward, both parties plan to expand Connect to various regions nationwide, as well as to festivals, cultural events, and other sectors.
