Busan Student Athletes Achieve Outstanding Results at National School Sports Club Festival
Five Championships, Seven Runner-Up Titles, Ten Third-Place Finishes
Busan's School Sports Prowess on Full Display
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) demonstrated the strength of school sports in Busan, with its student athletes winning five championships, seven runner-up titles, and ten third-place finishes at the 18th National School Sports Club Festival, which concluded on November 17.
According to the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education on November 26, this year’s festival was held every weekend from October 25 to November 17 across 16 cities and provinces nationwide. The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education sent a total of 80 teams-30 elementary, 30 middle, and 20 high school teams, each of which had placed first in their respective events at the Superintendent’s Cup School Sports Club Competition-to represent Busan in 17 events.
The events included cheerleading, sport stacking, baseball (softball), tee-ball, jump rope, volleyball, netball, soccer, dodgeball, futsal, foot volleyball, table tennis, basketball, badminton, kin-ball, floorball, and flying disc.
The Busan team saw Hwajeong Elementary School in Hwamyeong-dong, Buk-gu, claim both the boys’ and girls’ championships in dodgeball. Dong-A Middle School took first place in boys’ sport stacking, Daeyang High School won the boys’ jump rope event, and Busan Jungang High School secured first place in boys’ kin-ball. Notably, Hwajeong Elementary School achieved the remarkable feat of winning both the boys’ and girls’ dodgeball championships for the second consecutive year.
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education has been committed to promoting students’ health and physical fitness, as well as fostering sound character, through outstanding school sports club activities and the activation of inter-school sports exchanges.
