Jeonju University and the Sunchang Fermentation Tourism Foundation jointly held the "Sunchang Ssangchi Sweetheart Festival" on the 22nd in the Ssangchi-myeon area of Sunchang County.
According to Jeonju University on November 25, the festival received an enthusiastic response with its golden wedding anniversary event and bean-themed experience programs, presenting a new model for village festivals created through collaboration between the university and the local community.

The event featured a video highlighting the couples' shared history and congratulatory messages from family members and local residents, creating a warm and touching atmosphere at the venue.
Participants shared that "it was a meaningful occasion where the entire local community came together to celebrate the lives of these couples."
The festival also offered a variety of bean-themed experience programs. Activities such as making bean tofu, demonstrations of making fermented soybean blocks and sauces, bean cuisine tastings, and bean art and craft experiences, all highlighting the unique characteristics of Sunchang's fermentation culture, received a great response. In particular, families actively participated, bringing vibrant energy to the festival grounds.
The event was made even more meaningful as it was co-hosted by Jeonju University and the Sunchang Fermentation Tourism Foundation. The Jeonju University RISE Project Group took part in program planning and on-site management, while local residents contributed traditional skills and cultural resources, creating the festival together.
Ryu Inpyeong, a professor in the Department of Tourism Management at Jeonju University who planned and operated the festival, stated, "This festival is an ideal model of collaboration, combining the university's expertise with the local community's cultural experience. We plan to further expand educational programs linked to the community in the future."
Sun Yoonsuk, CEO of the Sunchang Fermentation Tourism Foundation, said, "We will continue to promote the value of fermentation culture and develop festivals in which residents actively participate."
