Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province has begun strengthening a public-private-academic cooperation system centered on schools to respond to the climate crisis and promote a culture of practicing carbon neutrality.

View original imageOn the 20th, the city signed a "Carbon Neutrality Practice Agreement for Responding to the Climate Crisis" with Changwon Yongho High School, the Carbon Neutrality Support Center, Junam Environmental School, and the Sustainable Development Council at the third conference room of City Hall.
In particular, Changwon Yongho High School has been consistently operating environmental education within its curriculum and student-led activities, earning recognition as a model case for climate crisis response education.
This agreement aims to establish a youth-led culture of practicing carbon neutrality through collaboration between the local community and private organizations, centered on schools. The focus is on systematically operating practical activities closely related to daily life, with participation from students, faculty, and parents.
Under the agreement, Changwon Special City will provide administrative support such as carbon neutrality educational materials, expert lectures, and city policy connections, while Changwon Yongho High School will operate carbon neutrality practice education within its curriculum. Participating organizations will be responsible for practical educational support, including developing educational content, providing best practices, and running programs.
At the signing ceremony, the heads of each organization reaffirmed their shared commitment to practicing carbon neutrality and emphasized the importance of ongoing sustainable collaboration.
Changwon Special City plans to continue strengthening its capacity to respond to the climate crisis and spread the culture of practicing carbon neutrality in daily life through cooperation between educational sites and public-private partnerships.
