Kwangdong Pharmaceutical Presents Research Results on Complex Extract Containing Deer Antler and Angelica at International Conference
Winner of the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award
Kwangdong Pharmaceutical announced on November 20 that it received the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award at the 2025 Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition International Conference for its research on the functionality of a complex extract containing deer antler and angelica.
The complex extract containing deer antler and angelica was confirmed through human trials to help maintain prostate health. The study attracted significant attention as a systematic verification case of a natural product-based functional ingredient.
The research was conducted over 12 weeks with 103 adult men aged 40 to 75 who exhibited symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Participants consumed either the complex extract containing deer antler and angelica or a placebo. As a result, the group that took 500 mg of the complex extract showed statistically significant improvements in the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) compared to the control group. Improvements were also observed in seven subcategories: urinary urgency, frequent urination, sensation of incomplete emptying, straining to urinate, nocturia, weak urinary stream, and quality of life. Kwangdong Pharmaceutical was awarded the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award in recognition of the reliability and academic value of this research.

Meanwhile, the complex extract containing deer antler and angelica is an ingredient independently developed by Kwangdong Pharmaceutical and is the first deer antler-based ingredient in Korea to be approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as an individually recognized functional ingredient (No. 2023-16).
