Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Jeon Jinseon) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Guksu Multipurpose Sports Center at 397-2 Guksu-ri, Yangseo-myeon, on the 13th. The long-awaited project, which aims to promote healthy living and leisure activities for residents in the eastern part of Yangseo-myeon, has finally begun construction.

View original imageThe ceremony was attended by Jeon Jinseon, Mayor of Yangpyeong County; Oh Hyeja, Chairperson of the Yangpyeong County Council; council member Yoon Soonok; Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Park Myungsook; and approximately 80 local residents. The event featured commemorative speeches and a groundbreaking ritual.
The Guksu Multipurpose Sports Center will be built with a total project cost of 9.6 billion won, including 4.5 billion won from the Water System Fund, 1.5 billion won from the provincial budget, and 3.6 billion won from the county budget. The center will be constructed on the site of the Guksu Sports Park, with two above-ground floors and a total floor area of 1,656 square meters. The first floor will house a multipurpose gymnasium, classrooms, showers, and storage rooms, while the second floor will include a fitness center, yoga room, and changing rooms. The target completion date is August next year.
Mayor Jeon Jinseon stated, "The Guksu Multipurpose Sports Center will become a community space where we can pursue welfare, leisure, and health together," and added, "I sincerely thank the heads of organizations and residents of Yangseo-myeon who worked hard to prepare for this project."

Meanwhile, Yangpyeong County announced plans to expand and improve roads in the Guksu-ri area and to install a pedestrian bridge along the riverside of the Guksu Sports Park to promote balanced development in Yangseo-myeon.
