BMW Nears 10,000 Electrified Vehicle Sales... "Expanding Charging and Services"
Preventing Electric Vehicle Safety Incidents with BMW Proactive Care
BMW Korea announced on November 13 that it sold 9,454 electrified vehicles from January to October, marking an increase of approximately 15.6% compared to the same period last year.
Sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) reached 4,814 units, while plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) accounted for 4,640 units. Notably, PHEV sales surged by 70.7% year-on-year.
BMW Korea is leading the popularization of electrified vehicles through bold investments in electrification infrastructure. The company is implementing BMW Group’s “Power of Choice” strategy, offering consumers a wide range of options. Its lineup consists of 13 models and 24 different powertrains, ranging from the compact SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) BMW iX1, to the luxury flagship sedan BMW i7, and the high-performance BMW M-exclusive model BMW XM.
BMW Korea is also accelerating investments in charging infrastructure to ensure a convenient electric vehicle driving experience. The company has established and operates “BMW Charging Stations,” premium public EV charging facilities, at major locations nationwide. To date, a total of 2,800 EV chargers have been installed, with plans to expand this number to 3,000 by the end of the year.
The electric vehicle test drive program, “BMW BEV Membership,” was also introduced for the first time in the domestic automotive industry. Over a six-month period from May to October, more than 2,500 participants experienced BMW’s core value of “the joy of driving” through its electric vehicles.
BMW Korea operates the connected technology-based vehicle management service “BMW Proactive Care,” which detects battery status in real time during charging to prevent safety accidents caused by overcharging or overheating. It is also the only automobile importer participating in a pilot project for fire reporting in the event of EV battery abnormalities, establishing an accurate detection and rapid reporting system for suspected EV fire situations.
