Award Established to Commemorate McIlroy's Career Grand Slam
First Recipient to Be Announced After Next Year's Major Tournaments
The DP World Tour has established the Rory McIlroy Award, named after Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland.
On November 11 (local time), the DP World Tour announced, "To commemorate McIlroy's achievement of the career Grand Slam, we have decided to present the Rory McIlroy Award annually." This award will be given to the DP World Tour player with the best performance across the four major tournaments in a given year. The inaugural recipient of the Rory McIlroy Award will be determined after the conclusion of the four major tournaments in 2026.

View original imageIn April, McIlroy won the Masters, completing the career Grand Slam by capturing titles at all four major tournaments. Before McIlroy, only Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods of the United States, as well as Gary Player of South Africa, had achieved the career Grand Slam in men's golf. McIlroy is the only European player to do so.

McIlroy shared his thoughts, saying, "It is an incredible honor to present an award bearing my name to future generations of players." McIlroy will compete in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship for the 2025 season, which begins on November 13 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with a total prize fund of 10 million dollars.
