This year's Glocal Reading and Humanities School was organized under the theme "Yi Sun-sin's Yeosu, and the Sea," as an experiential program that combines local history with reading and humanities education. The program was designed to help students understand the life and spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, and to develop historical thinking and a sense of community through reading, discussion, and field trips.

The program ran for about seven months, from May to November this year, and targeted fifth and sixth grade elementary school students and first to third grade middle school students in Yeosu. The total number of participants was 80, including 50 elementary school students and 30 middle school students.

Each school could recommend one or two students. Elementary schools with 200 or more fifth and sixth graders, and middle schools with 400 or more first to third graders, could recommend up to two students. In case of competition, one student per school was given priority, and schools with a larger number of students in the relevant grades were given preference.

Recommended students were those with a strong interest in Admiral Yi Sun-sin and reading or history classes, and who were healthy enough to participate in experiential learning activities such as bus or ship trips.

The program consisted of an entrance ceremony and safety training, followed by "Tracing Yi Sun-sin's Footsteps Season 1 and 2" field trips, a reading discussion project, historical exploration activities, and a results presentation. Students directly visited historical sites in Yeosu, followed the footsteps of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, and explored the historical value and significance of the region through reading and discussion.

Baek Dohyun, Superintendent of Education, said, "This Glocal Reading and Humanities School is a Yeosu-style educational model that integrates local history and humanities. I hope it will be an opportunity for students to learn the spirit of Yi Sun-sin and to grow independently through reading and discussion."
