The Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP), led by President Kim Youngboo, received the "Best Work-Life Balance Corporate Culture Award (Busan Mayor's Award)" at the "2025 Work-Life Balance Excellent Company Competition Award Ceremony" held at Busan City Hall on November 5.

View original imageThe "Work-Life Balance Excellent Company Competition" is organized annually by the Busan Work-Life Balance Support Center, aiming to spread a culture of work-life balance and discover exemplary cases of improved working environments in the region.
This year, a total of five organizations and companies were selected across three categories: Best Work-Life Balance CEO Award, Best Company for Raising Children Award, and Best Work-Life Balance Corporate Culture Award.
BISTEP received high praise for its multifaceted efforts to establish a positive workplace culture, including improving long working hours, promoting flexible work arrangements, and operating family-friendly programs.
Quantitative evaluation criteria included the utilization of flexible work systems, annual leave usage rate, support for family leisure activities, operation of family participation programs, and family-friendly education within the workplace.
In particular, BISTEP also received high marks for its efforts to innovate organizational culture and ensure the practical implementation of these systems.
Major initiatives included the operation of annual leave in 30-minute increments, a long-term service leave system, Family Love Day, the in-house psychological counseling program "Knock-Rak," revitalization of in-house clubs, Local Community Culture Activity Day, an organizational innovation contest, and a global insight capacity-building program.

President Kim Youngboo stated, "This award is the result of organizational culture innovation achieved by all employees together," adding, "We will continue to create a healthy work environment that enables employees to focus on their work and fulfill our social responsibilities as a public institution."
