View original imageAccording to groundwater quality test results for each of the 18 cities and counties in Gangwon Province, as of the end of September this year, the non-compliance rate exceeded 20%.
Based on data titled "2025 Status of Groundwater and Village Water Supply Management for Administrative Audit" submitted to the Gangwon Provincial Council by Gangwon Province, Eom Yunsun, Chairperson of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Committee, reported that the Gangwon Institute of Health and Environment conducted 855 groundwater quality tests across the 18 cities and counties in the province, of which 198 cases (23.2%) were found to be non-compliant.
Looking at the non-compliance rates by city and county, Cheorwon County had the highest rate at 47.3% (26 cases), followed by Hongcheon County at 46.7% (14 cases), Inje County at 40% (12 cases), and Yeongwol County at 36.4% (4 cases).
In addition, during the same period, quality tests of village water supply and small-scale water supply facilities by city and county showed that out of 1,056 facilities in total, 100 were tested, and 7 cases (7%) were found to be non-compliant. By city and county, 6 cases occurred in Cheorwon and 1 case in Donghae.

Eom Yunsun, Chairperson, emphasized, "It is essential to ensure the supply and encourage the use of water supply facilities for groundwater facilities that fail to meet quality standards," and added, "In particular, please do your utmost to provide safe drinking water from village water supply and water supply facilities based on prompt and accurate testing."
