Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority Holds 'BJFEZ Youth Insight Trip' for Local Youth
25 Smart Port Logistics Majors Gain Career Insights from Field Visits to Port and Logistics Industries
On November 3, the Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (BJFEZ), led by Commissioner Park Sungho, organized the "BJFEZ Youth Insight Trip" for 25 undergraduate students from the Department of Smart Port Logistics at Dong-Eui University, offering them an opportunity to explore key local industrial sites.
This program was designed as a local settlement initiative to mitigate the outflow of local youth to the Seoul metropolitan area and to raise awareness that the Busan and Gyeongnam regions also possess globally competitive industrial infrastructure and outstanding companies.
The trip was tailored specifically for the participants, all of whom are majoring in port logistics, with a focus on the smart port logistics sector-one of BJFEZ’s strategic industries.
The students first visited the BJFEZ promotional center, where they learned about the current status and future vision of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone. They then toured the promotional center of Busan Port Authority (BPA) to observe firsthand the global logistics hub operations at Busan New Port.
In addition, they visited DWL Global, an advanced logistics solutions company, where they participated in an on-site tour and received briefings from company representatives on industry trends, digital transformation strategies, and logistics technology trends.
Cho Samhyeon, a professor in the Department of Smart Port Logistics at Dong-Eui University, said, "It was a meaningful experience for students to directly observe how the port operations and logistics IT theories learned in class are implemented in the field. By experiencing everything from the logistics system of the new port to the digital innovation of companies, they gained practical insights necessary for career planning."
