Chairman Cho stated, "We will realize the democracy of light through the New Party Vision and incorporate it into the party’s system and engine," adding, "The Innovation Party will continue to boldly pursue reforms that the two major parties have not attempted."
The reform plan unveiled by the Innovation Party on this day includes the following: the establishment of the Straightforward Committee, the introduction of the Party Member Citizens’ Assembly, the implementation of an Innovative Talent Recommendation System, and the holding of joint meetings of the National City and Provincial Party Committees.
Kim Hobum, a member of the Emergency Response Committee, explained, "The Straightforward Committee will serve as a 'red team' that delivers the will of the party members and the public without any filtering, even without a formal request from the party. It will also function as an internal early warning system capable of halting misguided decisions by the party," adding, "By institutionalizing criticism, we aim to become a party that is always alert and awake."
The Innovation Party’s Straightforward Committee will be composed of a diverse group of individuals, including party elders, youth, and civic activists. When they identify issues during party operations, they will submit a 'warning opinion letter' to the party leader. Upon receiving this letter, the party leader is required to consult with the Supreme Council and deliver an action plan to the committee within 30 days.
The Party Member Citizens’ Assembly is designed to allow party members to directly participate as decision-makers by forming assemblies for each agenda item. One hundred party members will be randomly selected and constituted, taking into account gender, age, region, and social class. The assembly will automatically dissolve after the agenda discussion concludes. If the assembly adopts a recommendation, the Supreme Council will accept it as an agenda item, discuss it, and then report it to all party members.
Woo Heejong, Vice Chairman of the Emergency Response Committee, stated, "We will actively promote citizens’ assemblies related to the eight major areas of social rights in advanced countries and broadly address agendas that the public desires, including regional funding issues, youth, gender equality, climate, and taxation. In the long term, we plan to establish regional citizens’ assemblies for each city and provincial party to strengthen local sovereignty and autonomy."
The joint meeting of the National City and Provincial Party Committee Chairs is intended to implement local decentralization and will function as a second Supreme Council. The party leader will serve as the chair, with the Supreme Council members, the Policy Committee Chair, and the city and provincial party chairs participating. Topics such as local decentralization, the party’s vision, and local election pledges will be discussed.
Jung Hansook, a member of the Emergency Response Committee, emphasized, "In the long term, we expect this to contribute to balanced regional development and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing grassroots democracy. As the Innovation Party seeks to overcome the monopoly politics of the two major parties, we anticipate that it will practice coalition politics through policy alliances with regional parties."
