The signing took place at the 'K-Tech Showcase' event held at Gyeongju Expo Park during the week of the '2025 APEC Summit.' The ceremony was attended by Jaeha Park, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Group's Global Hydrogen Business Division, Clarence Chua, Director General for Korea and Japan at EDB, and Trevor Wong, Director for Korea and Japan at EDB.
Under the agreement, Hyundai Motor Group will cooperate with Singapore in discovering opportunities for hydrogen-centered low-carbon technology development, while EDB will support the creation of an environment that enables Hyundai Motor Group to continue its efforts, such as building a hydrogen ecosystem in Singapore.
Looking ahead, Hyundai Motor Group plans to lay the groundwork for establishing a hydrogen ecosystem within the city-state of Singapore. The company will begin foundational work for building a hydrogen ecosystem, including power generation using hydrogen energy and long-distance hydrogen transportation. In addition, with the establishment of a free trade zone between Singapore and Johor, Malaysia, the company anticipates the realization of a Southeast Asian hydrogen infrastructure system in cooperation with Malaysia.
Hyundai Motor Group will also work with Singaporean mobility partners to raise awareness of hydrogen technology. By operating hydrogen-based vehicles, the company aims to naturally promote public recognition of a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem.
Zheng Jingxin, Director of Mobility at EDB, stated, "Supporting the development of sustainable technology closely aligns with Singapore's commitment to developing a low-carbon economy. Both sides will continue to work together to strengthen Singapore's position as an innovation hub within Hyundai Motor Group's global network."
