[2025 Audit] People Power Party Continues 'Choi Minhee Offensive' Despite No Response from Ruling Bloc
Democratic Party Urges, "Stop Holding Back the New Government"
While most standing committees had already concluded their schedules for this year's parliamentary audit, the comprehensive audit held by the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Communications Committee on the 30th saw continued attacks from People Power Party lawmakers against Chairperson Choi Minhee until the very end.

Lee Sanghwi, also from the People Power Party, criticized, "The chairperson is supposed to lead the audit with seriousness, fairness, and impartiality. However, the chairperson's standing has been undermined by personal and private suspicions."
Choi Sujin, another People Power Party lawmaker, raised her voice, saying, "By dragging in unrelated topics such as quantum mechanics and the spirit of Roh Moo-hyun to evade responsibility with sophistry and excuses, the people and the National Assembly have been deceived multiple times. As the committee's audit has been disrupted by an individual's misconduct, taking responsibility is the least that should be done."
In response to these attacks from People Power Party lawmakers, Chairperson Choi stated, "I will make all the relevant materials public at the end of the audit regarding the issues you have raised," and drew a line by saying, "For now, I will proceed with the audit." She also said, "I will conduct an efficient audit," and omitted the witness oath, opening remarks, and work reports from the audited organizations.
Lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea and the Rebuilding Korea Party did not confront the People Power Party's attacks head-on, but instead indirectly checked them through policy inquiries. In particular, they highly praised the outcome of the Korea-US tariff negotiations concluded the previous day and urged the People Power Party to stop political strife.
Han Minsu of the Democratic Party, before his inquiry, mentioned the achievements of the negotiations, stating, "Yesterday, the people witnessed with their own eyes how much the country can change when the president changes. I believe President Lee Jaemyung's pragmatic diplomacy focused on the national interest and principled negotiation skills were clearly demonstrated."

Hwang Jeonga, also from the Democratic Party, remarked, "This negotiation can only be evaluated as having successfully achieved both rationality and national interest better than any other country," and pointed out, "Global companies are pledging to invest trillions of won in Korea, yet the political sphere is wasting time on strife instead of supporting this. It's time to stop holding back the new government and make this committee a place for vigorous debate on long-term national strategies that will shape our future."
