Jung Euigye Appointed as New Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs...Former Interpreter for President Roh Moo-hyun
On October 30, Jung Euigye, a career professor at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (30th Foreign Service Exam), was appointed as the new Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the newly appointed Assistant Minister Jung graduated from Korea University with a degree in law and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (formerly the Ministry of External Affairs) in 1997. She has served as Counselor at the Embassy of Korea to Belgium and the European Union, Director-General for ASEAN Affairs, and most recently as a career professor at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy.

Assistant Minister Jung gained attention in 2006 during the Roh Moo-hyun administration when, as a woman in her 30s, she was unusually appointed as the President's English interpreter. In 2019, during the Moon Jae-in administration, she was dispatched to work at the Presidential Committee on New Southern Policy.
