The Korea Ready-Mix Concrete Industry Cooperative Association announced on October 28 that it had signed a “Steel-Construction-Ready-Mix Concrete Industry Win-Win Agreement for the Effective Utilization of Steel By-Products” together with Posco and Posco E&C at the Association’s conference room.

View original imageThe main purpose of this agreement is to promote the improvement of ready-mix concrete quality, cost reduction, carbon emission reduction, and resource circulation by utilizing by-products generated during steel production. Through this, the goal is to foster an eco-friendly construction industry ecosystem.
Under the agreement, the Ready-Mix Concrete Association will review mix designs using steel by-products and promote joint research and business projects for the production of high-quality ready-mix concrete. Posco will provide basic information on steel by-products and support ready-mix concrete manufacturing technology, while Posco E&C will review the application of steel by-product-based ready-mix concrete at construction sites and provide technical support.

Bae Jo-ung, Chairman of the Association, stated, “This agreement will be a meaningful first step in enhancing the competitiveness of the ready-mix concrete industry and practicing ESG management by recycling steel by-products as high value-added resources. The small and medium-sized ready-mix concrete sector will also take the lead in building a sustainable construction materials ecosystem together with the steel and construction industries.”
