The "2025 Gimpo Marine Corps Cultural Festival," where visitors can enjoy a variety of Marine Corps cultural experiences in one place, will be held on November 1 at Gimpo Warship Park and the Daemyeong Port area. Marking its second year, this festival leverages Gimpo’s unique status as a border region to present a hands-on event that fuses security and culture, and it is set to welcome visitors with an upgraded program lineup.
The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the Marine Corps amphibious landing operation demonstration. This year, helicopters and KAAVs (Korean Amphibious Assault Vehicles) will be mobilized for the landing operation demonstration. Alongside this, there will be exhibitions and hands-on experiences with various combat equipment, as well as live demonstrations of actual military gear in action. This will allow attendees to see and feel the Marine Corps' weapon systems up close-an experience rarely available to the public-and to sense the strength of the Marines firsthand.
The festival goes beyond simple viewing, offering hands-on programs where citizens can actively participate and experience Marine Corps culture. There will be a demonstration of "Mujeokdo," the Marine Corps’ special martial art, showcasing the discipline and resilience of Marine soldiers right before the audience. In addition, visitors can try on military uniforms and gear, experience camouflage face paint, sample combat rations and other foods, and enjoy the newly added, thrilling shooting experience-all of which add excitement and realism to the event.
Programs highlighting the unique toughness of the Marine Corps are also planned. The "Iron Stamina King" event, where citizens compete in physical challenges, and the "Iron Muscle Contest," featuring active-duty Marines, will further heighten the festival’s energy and excitement.
In addition, a Marine Corps recruitment booth will provide information to young visitors, while Gimpo City’s tourism promotion program will also be held. Rest zones using Marine Corps military tents will be set up around the festival grounds for attendees’ comfort.
At Daemyeong Port, the festival venue, visitors will have the opportunity to purchase freshly caught seasonal seafood from the West Sea and enjoy delicious, fresh cuisine. This offers a unique chance to combine security-related experiences with culinary delights for a truly rewarding festival experience.
