Trump Meets Emperor Naruhito After Arriving in Japan
US President Donald Trump arrived in Tokyo, Japan, on the 27th and met with Emperor Naruhito.
After landing at Tokyo Haneda Airport in the presidential aircraft Air Force One in the afternoon, President Trump boarded the Marine One helicopter, which was waiting at the airport, and moved to the Roppongi US military base. He then transferred to the presidential limousine, known as "The Beast," and headed directly to the Imperial Palace, the Emperor's residence.
According to Japanese media, Emperor Naruhito greeted President Trump with a smile and a handshake. The Emperor said in English, "It is good to see you again," to which President Trump replied, "Thank you."

View original imageAccording to Kyodo News, citing the Imperial Household Agency, President Trump told the Emperor that he intends to further strengthen US-Japan relations under the new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
He also expressed his expectations for the summit meeting with Prime Minister Takaichi scheduled for the 28th, stating, "I expect it will be a very good meeting."

President Trump stayed at the Imperial Palace for about 35 minutes. This was the first meeting between President Trump and Emperor Naruhito in six years since May 2019. At that time, President Trump visited Japan as the first state guest following Emperor Naruhito's enthronement.
