Samcheok City Announces Call for Entries for the 6th Samcheok Literature Award... Who Will Win This Year?
Samcheok City in Gangwon Province is accepting submissions for the 6th Samcheok Literature Award until November 20, in an effort to broaden the foundation of local literature and encourage literary creation.
The Samcheok Literature Award selects outstanding works in four categories: poetry, fiction, essays, and children's literature. There are three divisions: the Grand Prize (5 million won), open to writers with more than 10 years of experience; the Writer's Prize (2 million won), for mid-career writers; and the Young Writer's Prize (1 million won), for emerging young writers.
For the Grand Prize and Writer's Prize, writers who currently reside or have previously resided in Samcheok City may submit works or collections published within the past two years. The Young Writer's Prize is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 39 who currently lives in Samcheok City.
An official from the city stated, "The Samcheok Literature Award has established itself as a representative literary award symbolizing Samcheok," adding, "Since works set in Samcheok receive extra points, we hope to see a wide variety of submissions that can highlight the literary value of the region."
