The goal is to build an efficient and sustainable fishery management system in response to changes in government policy, such as expanding the scope of fishery management and introducing new systems.
Shim Sunghyun, the principal researcher in charge of the study, emphasized, "Reforming the fishery management system is an essential task to ensure the sustainability of coastal and offshore fisheries, as well as to achieve both economic and administrative efficiency. The key is the establishment of a National Fisheries Management Headquarters."
Through this research, KMI has proposed four major strategic tasks: the establishment of a National Fisheries Management Headquarters, the setup of regional management offices, the transition to an integrated smart fishery management system covering both land and sea, and the establishment of national fisheries management governance. The study aims to build an efficient management system based on integration, smart technology, and cooperation.
