Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" to Premiere in Theaters on the 22nd
Starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi
On October 17, CGV announced that it will release director Guillermo del Toro's new film "Frankenstein," produced by Netflix, in theaters on October 22.
This gothic drama is a reinterpretation of Mary Shelley's novel of the same name, seen through del Toro's perspective. It depicts the downfall of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant yet arrogant scientist, who is ultimately destroyed by his own experiment to create life.
Director del Toro expands on the original themes of life and death, the essence of humanity, and the desire for love, unfolding the tragedy born of one man's obsession on an epic scale. He stated, "I have lived my whole life alongside Mary Shelley's creation. Now, I wanted to respond in my own way, as if singing it anew."
The protagonist, Victor, is portrayed by Oscar Isaac, who delicately expresses the inner world of a scientist possessing both cold intellect and deep anguish. The monster created by Victor is played by Jacob Elordi, embodying both human arrogance and loneliness. CGV added, "The confrontation and emotional performances of the two actors raise the question, 'Who is the real monster?' and leave a profound impression."
