Jeonnam Assembly Member Kim Jinnam Revises School Uniform Support Ordinance to Update "Outdated Expressions"
School Uniform Support Ordinance Revised to Reflect Free High School Education
All Confusing Language Remaining After Legal Revision Fully Updated
Kim Jinnam, a Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member (Democratic Party of Korea, Suncheon District 5), has revised the ordinance on school uniform support in line with the transition to free high school education.
On the 16th, Assemblyman Kim announced that the Education Committee of the 394th Extraordinary Session of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly had passed the partial amendment to the "Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education School Uniform Support Ordinance."
This amendment reflects the phased transition to free high school education following the revision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act in 2021.
Assemblyman Kim explained, "Although the 2021 legal revision shifted high school education to a free education system, there are still expressions in the ordinance that are confusingly associated with compulsory education. Through this amendment, we have clarified the purpose of the ordinance by updating its language to reflect the changing times."
He emphasized, "If the ordinance is not implemented in line with current realities, it could cause confusion for students and parents. This amendment establishes an institutional foundation to ensure that the school uniform support policy aligns with actual educational conditions."
